Cornerstone and Aon Announce New Partnership

Industry best practice solution will empower clients to better manage travel security risk for employees

Aon Risk Solutions, the global risk management business of Aon plc (NYSE: AON), recently unveiled the Aon WorldAware Global Gateway, a technology-based enhancement to WorldAware Solutions, Aon’s award-winning travel risk management platform. The Gateway will empower clients with the ability to better manage the travel security risk of their employees. Aon is expanding its WorldAware offering to clients in partnership with Cornerstone Information Systems, one of the world’s largest privately held travel technology companies that helps travel management companies, corporate travel departments, travel technology companies, and global distribution systems work more efficiently and more profitably.

Aon WorldAware Global Gateway provides a secure, accurate feed directly from a client’s TMC to the WorldAware Travel Management System irrespective of the GDS. Cornerstone will provide the data that allows WorldAware to track travelers at any point during their trip. By automating the acquisition of traveler data from a client’s travel management company, they can track any traveler, anywhere, so Aon can support a client’s duty of care.

“Business travelers face a multitude of potential risks when considering visits to new or complex overseas environments,” stated Ian Nunn, Head of Aon WorldAware Solutions. ”Interestingly, of the eight largest emerging markets, five are located in what could be regarded as presenting the highest security risk to the business traveler. The principal sources of risk to the business traveler—that of accidental injury or illness through environmental elements such as endemic disease and that of malevolent events, such as robbery or terrorist attack—require a comprehensive safe travel management program to reduce or deter risk to appropriate levels in accordance with client risk appetites.

“Today’s announcement enables Aon to feed the majority of Travel Provider data into our Travel Management System through the Global Gateway,” Mr. Nunn added. “This innovative technology is an industry ‘best practice’ solution that will make WorldAware Solutions one of the most robust safe travel platforms in the market. It will empower our clients with the ability to respond to an incident quickly, regardless of whether it threatens their daily workspace or an offsite location where an employee is visiting.”

“We’re thrilled to have the chance to work in partnership with Aon on the delivery of the Global Gateway data link to enhance WorldAware Solutions,” said Kyle Moser, Managing Director of Global Business Development for Cornerstone. “In the 20 years we’ve been in the corporate travel technology marketplace, we see many trendy discussion topics come and go but one consistent concern for corporations is duty of care. Concern for the safety of travelers, wherever they may go, never diminishes and rightly so. The combination of Aon’s corporate resources and capabilities and the skill and knowledge Cornerstone has developed in the acquisition of travel data make for a very powerful market offering. We look forward to doing great things together.”

Aon WorldAware Solutions is an end-to-end travel risk management platform that incorporates travel risk analysis, training and awareness; risk-managed travel and alerts; and incident response. As part of the travel risk analysis, Aon’s 24/7 Crisis Operations Centres can activate company safe travel/insurance policies and contact relevant third parties.
